No keeper grouper today, only shorts. Caught one 10 pound king early then went looking for more bottom. Got to 30 feet and noticed a school of bonita busting so we decided to stop and check them out. This is what we found....
Not only them, spanish, 30 pound amberjacks, 20 pound jack crevale, and huge blacktip sharks jumping 5 feet in the air to hit bonita.
Could hardly fish because of the 30-35" reds hitting our baits. Lost a big jack and 2 kings that I could not turn around on my calcutta 250. We finally anchored and chumed and had the spanish and kings schooling behind the boat. Started throwing yozuri's at them and hooking 3 or 4 fish per cast. Wil caught a 8.5 pound king on 8 lb test. Fun! Then he had a big fish on that got taken by one of the flying sharks. We left them biying at 2:00 as we were hot and exhausted. Ran in at WOT on glass calm seas. The whole trip we watched kings skyrocketing bait. They have arrived and are hungry. We should have a great tournament. Spanish and kings are thick outside the last channel marker. We kept 2 kings and 3 spanish. Made it back to the truck just in time to hear Wide Left. =(
