New Face, Old Friend

Post by SHOWBOAT »

Everyone on this forum has made me so excited for spring fishing that I can't lurk any longer. First, thanks for the information and entertainment you all have provided me over the past 4 years. I started to read posts on this site when I moved to Tallahasse to attend law school 4 years ago. I now work as in-house counsel for a local company and still read posts daily. I have spoken to many of you at launches or on the water somewhere from St. Marks and St. Joe. Also, many of you may recognize my blue Gheenoe that's frequently in larger water than it should be. Unfortunately the small boat problem won't be changing in the foreseeable future due to student loans.

Anyway, with the introduction behind me back to the good stuff, fishing. I started bass fishing as a child, began salmon fishing when I moved north for college, and started salt-water fishing the same summer I found this webpage. My first memorable catch had me addicted.

I now fish creeks and flats 90% of the time looking for reds and trout. The next two pics are of my fiance, and were taken during a couple of our trips last month. She had a better February than I did, and is more photogenic than I am anyway.

You will probably see most of my posts following weekends. I fish all water from St. Marks to St. Joe. You may even see me post some reports with a long rod, but rarely hear of me catching things with it.

I also enjoy bird hunting and deer hunting, and although the seasons are behind us it would be rude to introduce myself without a picture of man's best friend.

Finally, I'll leave you with a picture of what we are all anticipating; fat trout on the flats in March. This was taken last year in the second week of March. Hope to hear some great reports this week.

I look forward to hearing more reports from all of you, and I'll try to add what I can to a group that has helped me a catch more/better fish than I have in other chapters of life.

Brian

Welcome to BBF, Brian- Impressive intro. We like nice in-depth reports..with pictures, if you please.. :D
Not sure how the others will take that handle, though... We already have 2 or 3 'showboats' here, but they go by other names. :-D

Welcome aboard, Showboat.

As Q said, quite an introduction. If you've been lurking for 4 years, you already know to toughen your skin and enjoy the site. You, being a lawyer, will probably take a few shots. Atticus has managed to survive our harrassment. I'm sure you'll fare well, and enjoy the forum.

Keep those reports coming.

Quinn, who in the world would you be referring to as a showboat on this forum? :o
What was I supposed to do today?

Welcome aboard, Showboat ! :smt006
Now you've done it. We expect all your posts to have photo's of only
trophy sized fish, and stories of encounters with fish too big to bring in the boat.....
What an entrance you have made, and the stage is set for you....
:-D :-D :-D

Yeah, how do you follow that post?
I started to ask what took so long then I remembered you just finished law school -congrats on that. I'm with you on "frequently in larger water than it should be". I don't have a "boat" yet but it sure hasn't stopped me from a lot of nice fish. The no motor crew is getting together Sun AM for a freshwater effort & general first group event. Be happy to have you.
Wanna catch that Tarpon out of your canoe?

Well that post will make you want to go fishin'. Welcome, since you've been lurking, I'm sure you've realized you'll learn all you ever wanted to know about sundress fashion and blue jean drift socks. Sometimes we catch fish.
