Spring Warrior Report

Post by MudDucker »

Took my boy and my gatortrax with a hyperdrive and headed out of Spring Warrior yesterday. Checked the tides and decided to get there at 9:30 to fish the incoming. Ran past a couple of boats stuck in the mud. Based on Keaton reports, we ran south first. Only fish was a short trout. Ran up to the skinny near shore and saw lots of mullet and one 1 red, but no action. Although not many trailers at the ramp, boats were everywhere on the flats. Everytime I set up a drift, someone would drive right through it. Figured a bunch of folks ran from Keaton or parts south. Then we ran north and fished toward Rock Island. Son finally caught one keeper at the mouth of a creek. Repeated the drift and he caught one sailcat. Repeated the drift..nada.

Oh yea, the flats south of SW looked funny. The water cleared nicely, but it looked like there was a lot of silt on the grass. Places where I've found good grass in the past really looked nearly bare. Only good looking grass was up close to the shoreline.

Beautiful day to spend with my son on the water. We put the boat back on the trailer at 2PM and piddled all the way back to V-town.

Sure beat working in the yard  :-D

Mud, how does that hyperdrive hold up to the rocks?
What was I supposed to do today?

Amen to the time with the son

TC, I bumped one rock and put a little dent in the prop. They make a rock guard, but I don't have one. Needed one for the first turn out of the ramp though :o After that, didn't have any problems :-D
