The rain ruined my day for working, so I decided to not the let the day be a total waste by going fishing instead

I called a few buddies to see if they wanted to tag along (like b-man), but there were no takers. So, I decided to go solo. I really needed a day on the water to take a break from the seemingly endless demand for work. I got to the fort around 11:00 and was greeted by these conditions

Headed out to the flats and started fishing just west of Stoney. Immediately started picking up these one after another.....

Image

Every fish that I got to the boat was 15+ I switched over to topwater.......nothing. Went back to the jig and started all over again.

I eventually moved farther east towards the garden, but not a single bite. I headed out to deeper water (8 ft.) and nothing there either. Went back in for one more drift, but the wind had completely died along with the tide. No action whatsoever, so I decided to head on in.

I really wanted to run the boat good today, so I ran it wide open the entire way in....

Back to the fort at 3:30.

ALL trout caught today were 15+ with not the first short! ALL were caught on a SureKetch firetail grub in 3ft. or less.

Nice day on the water with no rain......sure beat work (b-man)

Gotta admit, I was like Bman wondering about +15 on that one. Maybe some of that famous tail pinch measuring we get around here. :D

But again, like Bman:

that speck in the pic was actually the smallest one of the day  I just happened to have the camera for him.....had to much fun catching the others to worry about fooling with the camera  You know what they say....."the camera takes a few inches." :smt005

All the fish caught were released for b-man to try to catch another day.....I was out there for fun and relaxation, not dinner for a change. Kinda the same philosophy b-man had for going to the holding pond the other evening

Here's a pic of when I'm going for dinner...

Nice report and pics. It's fun to fish alone ever now and then- just you and the boat and the day and the fish..now that's good for the soul. :-)

sailcats are good eatin' my brother......there's one there only because the 11 year old insisted on putting it on the stringer since he caught it

...and yes, I do have big hands :o

That speck in the picture was barely 15" but 15" none the less...I wouldn't incriminate myself like that on purpose  He's does look short in the pic though, I'll give you that.....like I said, the camera takes a few inches!

Them Sail cats are good eating, but I'll only eat them blackened... :lick:

I thought about being out there all day yesterday, but was stuck in the office.

Bravo Dolphinatic!

Would you believe I took yesterday off to fish but wimped-out due to the weather? Instead I cleaned the house which makes being back here at work seem easy.
