grouper

Post by straithookin »

I am just needing to know the basics of where the grouper are hanging out at right no i have the boat to get me out to where they are but where are they. three weekends in a row I have been stumped and my parent are going to be in town this weekend and would really like to show them a nice grouper. p.s. parents live in washington state and have no clue about fishing here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As I have been working on my boat since oct...I can't tell you from recent experience, but I will offer some friendly advise. Most definitely get some live bait ......and take some frozen. Hit all the public spots like K-tower, Bryson, Yamaha, St. George bridge rubble, O-Tower....etc---50-80ft, maybe troll some around these, as a friend of mine caught 7 trolling the other day. Good luk

My personal preference is the Stretch 30 style for trolling and bottom fishing with the live bait...6-8oz weight, w/4-6ft leader...30-40 minutes max, on one spot...move on........you'll find em'''''''''''' ( I don't have any experience w/down riggers....some one else will have to answer that one ).....luk.....

Stretch 30's, 50' of water, Southeast of Dog Island. Some nice gags have been removed from there in the last month.
