Center Console Seat and Screws Striped problem.

Post by mojokoko »

Well I went and checked my boat because I knew the Center Console seat was a little loose. It appears as if the screw holes have been striped so to speak and or I just done have them centered right. Do any of you guys know how to fix a problem like this?

What I would do, and I'm not saying either of these ideas are the right way to go about this, is use a larger diameter stainless steel screw.

The other, and probably most likely thing I would do, is put Gorilla Glue on a couple toothpicks, insert them in each hole and break them off flush. Then screw the old screws back in. Good luck ever getting them back out again, unless you use some kind of release agent on the threads, and even that might not always work.

I would start with the larger screw idea as suggested by Charles. If that doesn't work. fill the holes with fiberglass, re pilot the holes, and put the screws back in.
What was I supposed to do today?

When my nephews did that, we put larger screws but coated them in 5200 before installing
