Steinhatchee

Went out of steinhatchee Nov. 2 and 3 fished the old bombing range holes around dallus creek in 4'-7' of water with jigs and top water. Sat. was a bit breezy in the morning and to sunny for my liking since the water there is still very clear. We caught 10 keeper trout ranging from 15"-22" and a nice spanish mackeral that went 7 pounds. Sun. was an ideal day with light winds and alot of cloud cover. We only fished 2 hours and had 7 keeper trout ranging from 16"-25". The trout were feeding on the edges of those holes which ran to depths of 8'-14' on jigs. Also saw a very large tarpon approx. 5' jump multiple times about 200 yds. from the boat, an awesome site. Cant quite figure out the water though, seems quite clear for this time of year. Almost forgot, most fish were caught in the first hour of the out going tide.

Good trip! Clear water has been the key around Econfina, for me at least. When we drift to stained water, the bite shuts off.
