Now for the sideshow. :-D
I was drawn by Birddog to be his partner for the annual Draw a Partner tournament. We made our final plan for a ramp to leave from at Jerrys Bait Saturday morning. With the weather forecast of 10/15 southwest we decided to leave out of Aucilla and go west. This would allow for going with the wind on our way back with a boat load of big trouts from a secret spot. On the way down to Aucilla Birddog informs me he was looking forward to Aucilla since he had never been there before. :hammer: We got there about 7:15 am,only 2 other trucks in the lot. As we prep the boat for launch I explain a couple things about the ramp you need to know depending on how much water is there when you launch. He gets in the boat and I back him down beside the dock to a dropoff. He has large tires on his trailer and we need depth. He keeps giving me the signal to come on back and back and back until finally the wheels submerge and the boat begins to leave the trailer. At this point I expect him to have the boat cranked and pull off just like Butch does wherever we launch. Butch and I are 20 seconds tops on any ramp.Birddog ain't Butch. As I saw the boat begin to clear the trailer I pull out to park. Once at the top of the ramp I begin to turn left. That's when I see Birddog from the sideview mirror, arms flailing. I'm thinking he is awfully close. Then it dawns on me what is going on. I distinctly remember taking the bow strap loose. (I did). As I slam into park and jump out I see him and the boat teeter then totter off the back of the trailer and onto the concrete. Six whole feet from the water. I believe if he had trimmed the motor up he might have stayed on the trailer for another try at launching. The Waviel Porter skegguard left a significant gouge in the ramp for about 15 feet before it pulled the boat off the trailer. The nice folks at the ramp had a couple suggestions for us. :smt014 They said we could wait until noon for high tide and float off or they would help us spin the boat 180 degrees and see if we could push it in the water.Anticipating lots of tournament fish waiting to be caught we accepted their offer to help. Alot of straining and pushing and pulling did the trick. Once afloat we headed down river to our secret Big Trout spot wondering if there were any holes in the boat we should know about.

I became a little distracted when the bed of the truck filled up with water. :o

No harm done to the boat. Another plus to owning an aluminum boat.

And it made for a funny story to tell everybody.

Had a good time Steve, despite the absence of trout. No big deal, we'll get'em next time.

Congrats to Tyand Waldon, Larry Cobb, and Team Eerman. You fellas did real good.

On a side note, I'm cutting you off Eerman. It appears I've shared enough secrets with you.

Hey all of those secrets were for the other species. From what I heard yesterday, you're still pretty good at finding those.
