St Joe 5/7

Post by Eerman »

Hit St. Joe for the first time yesterday. Fished our butts off from 9 until about 5:30. Fishin' was slow; but, what was caught was healthy. Most of the fish came on shallow running hardbaits in a variety of colors. Brought home a 23", 21", 2-19" and 4 others between 16-18". Also caught 3-4 shorts, a few ladyfish, a couple of blues, and a catfish. Got circled at one point by 4 5-6' sharks. Didn't catch any fish in that spot. Also got chased around the bay by a pretty nasty looking water spout. That was interesting. All in all a pretty good first trip over there. Man, that water is perty.

You did good, Eerman. SJB is my favorite place to fish. I think it is 1 of the easiest places to fish.

Do you disagree, Chong? Not counting this year that place has been full of trout.

I think it's different than where we normally fish, i.e bars, creeks, oysters etc....It's grass and holes for the most part there....Chew know what I'm saying?

I hear you. If you looking for traditional structure to fish, it ain't there. I guess what I'm saying is there aren't any rocks to hit, the only hazards are shallow water and sand, and from Blacks Isl. south is where the trout are. (for the most part  )

Ok, I'm proposing our fishing show to ESPN. Compared to the crap they carry we should be a shoe in. Between Sopchoppy Rednecks, Tin Cans, pretty shirts, Sea Gurls, cross dressers, killer cobia (you're missed db plug), boats that run on asphalt, Cheech and Chong, all put into perspective by Mama K I think we've got it made. Every once in awhile we might even go fishing. We'll let JT51 host as long as he wears the dead squirrel on his head and Tom Keels can be executive producer just cause he started the whole thing. I have officially derailed my own thread. :-D
