WIND BLOWN ST MARKS 5-18-06

Post by FUTCHCAIRO »

WELL NOAA BLEW IT AGAIN, FORECAST WAS FOR 5-10, WHEN WE LAUNCHED THE BARGE AT THE LIGHTHOUSE AT 7:30 , WIND OUT OF THE N.W. AT ABOUT 20 AND GUSTING TO ABOUT 30. SINCE WE HAD THE BOAT IN THE WATER WE DECIDED TO GO AHEAD AND TRY CATCHIN SOME FISH. WE WENT OUT TO THE WEST FLATS BETWEEN THE #1 AND #2 STAKE, THE DRIFT WAS SO FAST WE COULD HARDLY CAST AND START TO REEL BEFORE WE HAD ALREADY GOTTEN TO THE PLUG. IT WAS A ROUGH DAY AND THE BITE WAS VERY SLOW, TEMMP WAS 78 AND A GAIL BLOWIN, WATER WAS PRETTY CLEAR , COULD SEE DOWN ABOUT 6'. WE USED CHARTRUSE,, SWA,, CANDY CORN, ELEC. CHICKEN,, AND RED HEADED GRUBS. TRIED TO FISH SOME SUSPENDED BAITS AND CAUGHT 3 TROUT AND A SPANISH ON THEM, THE REST OF THE FISH CAUGHT ON SWA GRUBS ON 1/8 TH OZ. RED JIGS. WE ENDED THE DAY ABOUT NOON SINCE IT WAS SO ROUGH. CAUGHT A TOTAL OF 15 TROUT, 1 LADYFISH, 1 ROCKBASS, 1 SMALL BLUE, AND 1 3' SHARK WHICH WE TOOK CARE OF PRONTO. HAD 3 KEEPER TROUT AND ONE 18" SPANISH. IT IS VERY HARD ON THE TWO OLD MEN OF THE SEA WHEN YOU ARE CONTINUOUSLY ROCKING AND PITCHIN IN THE BOAT, GLAD WE WENT BUT IT WAS NOT VERY ENJOYABLE.

Pa that sounds like a normal day at work for me....

At least you got something to show for your efforts.
