I want to see the specs on it. I'm still thinking about the Wang Anchor.

Here is something similar to the Wang Anchor made by some local folks http://www.skinnywaterproducts.com/anchor_pole.htm

Re: Lookin like a fool with your boat on the ground.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Trust me I only do this on weekdays in the winter and on a wide part of the channel, however you are correct it would only take one person trying to prove a point to make things dangerous.

Re: Lookin like a fool with your boat on the ground.

It's my own risk for being there. I just wonder how the FWC will interpret "in a manner that will unreasonably interfere with the navigation of other vessels." I am obviously not interfering when other boats fly by at WOT, and I completely accept that. Just to be totally transparent, one d...

Re: Lookin like a fool with your boat on the ground.

It's against the law to anchor in the channel. The regulation says... INTERFERENCE WITH NAVIGATION •Except in the event of an emergency, it is unlawful for any person to anchor or operate a vessel in a manner that will unreasonably interfere with the navigation of other vessels. So the reason I ask...

Re: Shell Point/St Marks

jjewell99 check out this link, it will show you all the areas including the rock garden. http://www.jerrysbait.com/LocalCharts.aspx
The area on Map C with the square drawn around items 5,6, and 7 is basically the rock garden. There are also many dangerous rocks east of that area.

Re: Fishing with pontoon boat and Big Bend spots?

My father in law and I ran a 24 foot pontoon out of St. Marks for many years. We frequently went as far as rotary reef from the lighthouse. Its a good 12 miles from the lighthouse to rotary. The pontoon I ran had the large diameter pontoons on it. From personal experience we never had any problems g...

Re: The launch!

Reminds me of a day on the ramp at Ocklocknee river at 90 just west of Tallahassee. A guy in an old station wagon backs his boat down the ramp, gets out and into the boat and successfully launches his boat. About the time he gets the john boat out into the middle of the river and hes headed back to ...

Re: Horsefly's

Actually they make a product called Utter Balm(AKA Bag Balm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bag_Balm ). This is what farmers use to keep the horse flys off their milking cow utters. The Bag Balm version is very sticky and thick but it will most definately keep off the yellow flys. I have personally use...
