Re: Minn Kota I-Pilot vs Motorguide XI5
Rocky do you have the dual GPS head unit or one of the older models? Try fishing into current and shutting off the motor first, then hit the anchor. Sometimes the older models would take a few minutes to get set.

Re: Minn Kota I-Pilot vs Motorguide XI5
I absolutely reccomend the Minnkota. Especially for Saltwater. It's a more dependable and much beefier motor. Get the Terrova style model. It's the RT in the saltwater riptides. There's nothing like a double hookup on reds and hitting that anchor button. I love the cruise control feature where I can...

Re: Sea Trout Workshop Opinions
Apalachee inshore, good insight. Does anyone know what the commercial affect is? Have there been any discussions about the invasive species, changing habitat and predatory species? There seems to be more recreational fishermen but is the mortality coming primarily from them? Sorry I'm on duty and co...

Re: Question about shooting guns from boats
Legal to carry but not discharge except during legal hunting season or self defense. State waters are considered public places. There are also careless or wreck less laws that discharging a firearm on open water would fall under also.

Re: Question about shooting guns from boats
There are several areas of the law that this could relate to. Especially, the fact of discharging the firearm on the water out of hunting season. During this time it would be considered public waters and if in channel a right of way. Then you have lead being shot over water. Not to mention careless ...

Re: Legal question-culling
Once you have caught a limit you are not technically supposed not to fish for that species for that day or trip. If u have five trout in livewell and catch another, you are over the limit. Some states, usually northern states won't let you fish after catching a limit on one species. Florida allows y...

Also can just switch off the circuit breaker while charging. Battery Switch should be off when charging cranking battery too.

Re: Minn Kota i pilot review
Unplugging while charging is both experience and as far as I know it is supposed to be in the manual. The last tech I talked to said it had been added. I can promise it will eventually get the control board. Especially in the V2 models that are powered all the time.

Re: Minn Kota i pilot review
Ipilot is the real deal and added technology only gets better. Try the cruise control also. After 5-6 years of use an electric steer motor will need a control board but multiple means there is a voltage issue. Remember to take the prop off periodically to remove fishing line and check seals. If you ...
Re: Batteries
A group 31 is all you need. I would spend the extra money on a battery maintainer. Instead of the optima or use two group 24s.

Re: Ranger Intracoastal 185
I have a triton coastal model and love the boat. I don't like sitting while on flats when it's choppy. Definitely the the best freshwater boat I ever owned. I really wanted the Ranger but the only hold up was the layout. I wanted a large bait well and live well which the triton had. The Ranger had a...
