24' Bay Scout
My son just purchased a 2007 24ft bay scout with a 250hp yamaha 4 stroke. Has anyone had any experience with this boat? We plan on doing some grouper fishing out of Keaton! what is your opinion of the seas this boat will handle? 2-4 should be okay.

Re: Gag/Snapper Regs in State Waters Question
i am a regular viewer of the 'Sportsman Adventure' TV program. I have a problem with their guide's 'hotspots' as it pretains to the current fishing regulations. Case in point, in one of the last segments the offshore 'hotspot' was gag grouper from a guide in the gulf! I posted a message on their web...

Go to a Doller General and get a bottle of 'Africa's best herbal Oil' put on cloth wipe and into a ziplock. Rub on yourself, yellow flies may land, but they won't bite. Sand Knats get the new Avon skin-so-soft insect repellant.

Re: Boat Rules
There are also restrictions on what type life preserver for inshore and offshore. This gets abused as well as most rules during scallop season.

Zippers
Can someone recommend a a 3700 tackle storage system that the zippers do not corrode on. I have tried several and over time the zippers corroded shut and broke. I tried to use a wal-mart cooler for soft plastics that lasted about 2 months. I am going to a hardcase box to store the plastics. I also t...

Zrust VCI sources
Has anyone tried their corrosion inhibitors. If so where can they be purchased. The Zrust website lists Gander Mountain as a source? I have not tried them yet.

Re: Grass Clogging Intakes - Any Tips?
It depends on the motor. My 90 Merc is the saltwater model and the water pickup is on the front of the foot. I will pickup water as long as the foot is in the water. Other motor have the water pickup farther back and they have no problems. My son-in-law's 150 Yamaha never overheats from the grass. T...

Re: CMC Jackplate
Thanks for the help. I purchased the boat second-hand therefore the CMC unit. It appears the solution is placing the connectors under the engine cowling and soldering or electric tape (starbrite product) the connectors. If I lived closer I would join your club (live in Palatka). I fish at Steinhatch...

I have the same problem with a 90 Merc. Install a water pressure guage and keep your eye on it. the alarm is not doing your motor any good over a period of time.

CMC Jackplate
I have an ongoing problem with corrosion on the connectors to the (switches/fuses?). The wire leads plug into a plastic bracket and the (switches/fuses?) plug into the wire leads. The connections last about 3 months then corrosion builds up and jackplate won't work. This seems to be a weak way for e...
