Re: Gulf side CIS 4.16

Great report. Super fish. By the way, if you were alone, how did you take the pictures? Do you have something rigged on the boat to hold your camera?

Re: Freshwater shore/dock casting?

Piney Z is a great place to practice on the water and there are some county ramps on Lake Talquin with docks that are accessable. Lake Jackson may have some water available from shore also and there are some private ponds available. Many of the city parks have grass areas that are great for practici...

Re: fishing under sail

Great looking frame. It should be a nice boat. I built a 4x8 row/sail boat to fly fish from using the West Marine epoxy. It is a nice boat. Once I got to the painting stage, I thought it would take forever to be finished. I used house paint on mine. I had a 17 ft Vandestadt Siren sail boat with a ni...

Re: Intermediate Casting Clinic

Great to hear of your interest. We are still planning for that date but will have to let you know when we get the facility nailed down. The cost is $70 for the day and that includes a year membership in both the Florida Big Bend Flyfishers and the Federation of Fly Fishers. With the smaller class, y...

Intermediate Casting Clinic

We are talking about having an intermediate casting class if there is any interest. This would not be the basic stuff but would center on helping people who are already using their fly rods learn to use them better. If we can get it, we will hold the class at the McClay School. It will be from 8-9 t...

Re: Collapsable Stripping Bucket

I found a collapsable laundry basket at Target some time ago and have been using it on my Kenner. I attached a string of cast net weights to the bottom with small cable wraps to keep it on-board in the wind. I have enjoyed using it and it keeps the line out of the water and out of the electric motor...

6hp Johnson long shaft

I have an older model 6hp Johnson long-shaft outboard left from my days of day sailing. I had the motor serviced and it has been stored in my garage for a few years. The sail boat has gone to the Sheriff's Boy's Ranch and I no longer need the motor. It is a sweet running kicker but had not been serv...

Re: Seeking Advise, Which 5, 6, or 7?

Cost of joining the local Fly Fishing club is $15/year from Jan 1. Current cost of FFF membership for new members is $10. $25 gets both. What has kept you from joining before? A club is only a clb without u. We have been trying to put together a rod building class and are looking for an instructor. ...
