Re: Reds and Specks
Yes, 5 fishing but only 3 catching. Unfortunately, some of our guys experience fishing envy

Reds and Specks
I apologize for the very late post.
A couple of weeks ago, my buds and I ventured out to test the waters near the lighthouse.
We had a couple of outstanding days even though bait was an issue. The morning tides were very nice and in the afternoon, the water was ripping out.
Some results.

Re: Who's catching?
We did well with the Reds and larger trout around the oyster bars a couple of weeks ago. I would guess it would be even better now.
We had a few Reds that were over slot, even a couple under but most were 22" - 27". Pins and patience.

St Marks 4/6 East wind
Bartman & I couldn't wait any longer, we made our first trip of 2016.
We took his boat out to catch the falling tide on Tues p.m. (4/5). Only managed a couple of trout, 18" 20".
Tuesday brought with it an East wind, which doesn't usually bode well. The East wind didn't let up but neither did we ...

Re: Best plan to catch Reds out of St. Marks?
BTW! It's 6 hrs 25 minutes ( low to high ) not the 8.5 I stated.
Please let us jonesing fishermen know how you did, where you fished, etc.
It's always good to get a report.

Re: Best plan to catch Reds out of St. Marks?
I concur with Salty Gator. Moving water is a good thing.
Your tides aren't going to be particularly stellar this weekend. There's only about a foot and a half of water coming with the incoming tide....that's not much for a 8.5 hour period (Low to High).
On Saturday, the water will be dead by 9:00 ...

Re: Best plan to catch Reds out of St. Marks?
The most valuable advice I can offer, go with live bait if possible. When the reds are hungry, they will eat a variety of things but, from my experience, pinfish is the bait of choice for quality reds.
The smaller reds will readily eat a live shrimp.
I know there are people who have success with ...

Re: Recommendation for Charter in PC
I recommend Capt. Benji Kelley.
We've been out with him on three different trips and all were great. Always limited out on big red snapper and usually brought some grouper back also.
He can put you on triggerfish and amberjack although last trip both had a season closure imposed - caught both ...

Re: Pinfish at St Marks ???
Thanks for the responses, guys.
Hey Gary, about the mud minnows.....I've never fished them but certainly willing to try, especially if the pins don't cooperate.
So, when the tide is low, you can just go to the shoreline, just out from the grass and chunk the cast net? That's all it takes?

Pinfish at St Marks ???
It's just about time for the wading guys to infiltrate.
I have a couple of questions about bait.
Is anyone catching pinfish? Have they returned? Is there grass on the flats in front of the lighthouse?

Re: Need advise on a pinfish trap.
We usually throw a cast net after chumming but one of my buddies has a trap. It is usually hit or miss (mostly miss) although there have been a couple of times the trap was pretty successful
The most pinfish I can remember being caught in the trap was when he baited it with cut bluefish he said he ...

Re: TAPATALK
I get the pop-ups too, whether I use the iPhone or the IPad. No setting that I have found will eliminate them. Truly annoying.

Pinfish at St. Marks???
Has anyone been having any margin of success catching pins around St. Marks area lately?
Around the river entrance to the bay, lighthouse, nearby flats?
Haven't been down since mid-May and there was neither grass nor pins around there.
