Looks like a young Whitebone Porgy to me. As they grow older the blotches are less pronounced. Good eating from what I hear. Definitely in the porgy family, upper mandible is longer than the lower one.

I am shore bound so when a decent blue is caught it's opened up from the anal fin to the gills right in the surf. Then rinsed out and placed in the cooler with salt water and ice.

I wonder how long the entrance fee and launching fee will last. In past years the county has collected fees at some of the parks. I know for sure that I have paid an entrance fee at Shell Point and Mashes Sands during the Spring and Summer but it was not consistent. The county may end it during the ...

I bleed them immediately after being caught and put them on ice. Fried Bluefish is great but I usually grill/bake them whole and they are just as good. My grilling/baking technique consists of placing the whole fish on foil and stuffing it with onions, tomatoes, green peppers and a sprig of thyme. I ...

Jhults11, where were you wading at? The fallen palm tree in your picture suggests you were wading by or near the old pier/dock by the lighthouse. I've wade fished that area quite a few times without your success. You had a great day out there man. Nice post.
