Re: Camping/ boating suggestions
A permit is technically required for the St Marks Island, which is called Apalachee Point. There is a recently resurrected sign on the south point stating such. That said, I've never gotten the permit and never had any issues. Beware of the low tides though. It's easy to get stuck dry on the east ...

Scallop Report
Dove three times in and around Rock Garden Thursday. Only spent a total of 30 or so minutes in the water, but I did not see a single one. I was between 3 to 6 feet. Water clarity varied greatly every few hundred yards. Discouraging, but more dives needed to be sure.

I forget everyone knows everyone on this forum. Should have mentioned it was old news, I just thought it was interesting.

Re: Review of RiverRunner's Carpenter Bee Traps
So do you have to secure these traps to the holes they are already using? Or do you simply hang it near their hive and wait for them to investigate the trap and get stuck?

Re: braid knots
I had a similar problem last year. Replaced my line, which helped, but eventually the knots began again. Eventually it turned out to be a stuck bearing on the roller that fed my spool. The line would twist as I wrapped it on instead of smoothly rolling over the bearing. Was only an issue when I was ...

Re: What is this freaky stuff near Cabbage Creek???
It is neat. I have seen that bottom exposed for hundreds of feet on extreme lows, not that that is unusual around here. However, that area has all those creeks that continue to drain when the water is out which may make those patterns more unique. All that said, I like the Sea Monster perspective ...

Re: What is this freaky stuff near Cabbage Creek???
I don't believe that to be typical tidal patterns for a flat. That bottom gets exposed in extreme negative tides. I know as I have had to walk my canoe back before. Those images may have been taken soon after one such tide and you are just seeing where the water channeled. Either that or aliens. Yea ...

Re: Trolling moter question???
I have been using a Minn Kot 32# on my Gheenoe for several years on many dozens of trips to the coast. It certainly show signs of abuse now; nuts are rusting, paint is coming off the housing and I have had to replace the power cable once already. However, I honestly never thought it would hold up so ...

Re: Launch Area on Aucilla River
Never been there, but try Nutall Rise. After that the river goes underground for a bit. You may get a more informed response from the folks over at the Kayak website, www.fcka.net, although I am sure some folks here have been to that area.

Re: Trolling motor advice
I have the foot pedal autopilot (SP). The autopilot is great! It maintains a heading and was far more useful than I originially aniticipated. However, the foot pedal is a constant headache. I have already had one fail after a couple years; the connector went shortly thereafter. I have now had the ...

Saturday 12/7: St Marks Whiteout
Fished Saturday from around noon just after the negative bottom, till after dark at the peak high. Water was lower than expected so we killed some time, and the trout, at the mouth of the St. Marks. Fog was thick, but varying. Ran out onto the flats only to get stopped for an hour by low visibility ...

Re: Aqua dream spoon failure.. Problem solved
Yet another shout out to Capt Mike. I emailed him with my spoon troubles and he quickly responded even though it was the Friday of Thanksgiving. Within a week he sent me a repair package that exceeded my expectations.
