Re: MODERN SPORTING RIFLES aka Assault rifles.

The rate of gun deaths in Australia, which has very restrictive gun laws, is one tenth of the same in the United States. From 2000 - 2010, there were over 111,000 murders from firearms in the United States. About 20,000 from knives. A little over 7,000 from blunt force trauma. This information exclu...

Re: MODERN SPORTING RIFLES aka Assault rifles.

Mr. Ducker, I sure wish you could avoid the bashing. Happens every time I come on here and ask for input. And always from you. This Country was founded, in part, on the right to debate, discuss and disagree. Respectfully. Frankly, I think you might want to review the rules of the forum. And I do und...

Re: MODERN SPORTING RIFLES aka Assault rifles.

Another good point, MM. My oldest brother who was in New Orleans after Katrina told me there were refrigerated 18-wheelers being brought in to take the bodies of looters. No questions asked. Again, I am just asking what people think because I bet we will have some people seeking elected positions th...

Re: MODERN SPORTING RIFLES aka Assault rifles.

So does that include an RPG? Surface to air shoulder launched missile? 50 caliber fully automatic? That's what I'm asking and trying to figure out. Where do you draw the line? Or is there no line? Seriously, I am not trying to take sides, I'm trying to come to my own opinion on where the line is, if...

Re: Assault rifles.

I do understand the Constitution, sir. The Second Amendment is not absolute, otherwise I could go out and buy a tank, an aircraft carrier or a cruise missile. Just like the First Amendment freedom of expression is not absolute and does not allow one to yell "fire" in a crowded theater. The...

Re: Assault rifles.

Lonesouth: Thanks for those links and the information. Good stuff there. BBG: I had no idea about our military men and women and these weapons. Great insight. The DHS thing is weird but I want to look into that one a bit more before reaching a conclusion on the reason for the purchase. It does seem ...

Re: Assault rifles.

Please help me understand this one. Disclaimer: Yup, I'm a liberal. Other things: I own a whole safe full of guns, two boats, two kayaks, fish and hunt as often as I can, drive a big ole Ford F150 4 X 4 and have more fishing gear than my wife likes. I do not get the whole debate about these weapons....

Re: FWC Drones

Your boat can be searched without a warrant. If you are in the St. Marks Refuge, your vehicle can also be searched without a warrant. The Fourth Amendment protects "reasonable" expectations of privacy, which you forfeit by boating in State and Federal waters or being on Federal lands. Give...

Charleston is really nice this time of year. The kids would enjoy Folley Beach. Lots of day-trip opportunities.

Helicopter landing

An incredible video of a helicopter landing on a ship in horrible weather. Makes you really appreciate the skill of our military.

Re: Shot guns at Apalachicola Range??

I have been told that Coon Bottom Hunt Club on SR12 allows shotguns and has a skeet range. My neighbor, a retired FHP Officer and gun instructor, tells me that you can use shotguns at the range south of the airport (if that's the one you are talking about) so long as you don't tear up the target hol...

Re: Best Areas to Surf Fish on St George Island

I was there all of last week. The fish were hard to find. The gnats were easy to find. Nothing on the beach side was really productive. Had some luck on the bay side behind the church on the east side of the island. Be sure to bring some bug spray.

Re: Catfish

I was always told that hardheads were nasty. Friend down the street kept a bunch caught at the mouth of the St. Marks and fried them up. Quite tasty. I'd take trout over them in a minute but they were good.

Re: Isnt it sad.

Listen to WWL870 out of New Orleans on Saturday mornings, Don does a great sportsman show that sheds a lot of light on these issues. Has a ton of local guides call in and give their input. This past Saturday he had a diver on who gave frightening first-hand details about the destruction of the wells...
