Re: Limits at Econfina 5/25 (Pics for Proof)

Caught the trout mainly on jigs of various color. The redfish were on jerk shads since they wouldn't quite warm up to the topwater plug.

Limits at Econfina 5/25 (Pics for Proof)

Headed home from my internship in Brunswick, GA with DNR Coastal Resources Division with the desire to catch some fish in clear water. Took one of the Wildlife Biologists that went to Warnell and works at the office and fishes a good bit off the Georgia coast. After looking at the winds and tides I ...

Re: St. Joe/Mexico Beach in June

Usually, as long as the wind is below 15 mph in the bay you can find somewhere to fish. Take a look on google maps and get a good idea of where you can go from each landing... (Presnells, City landing, and the intercoastal landing) One of the biggest differences is the fact there there isn't the oys...

St. Joe Redemption

After a miserable showing at the NFGFC tourney last week I decided I didn't want my last trip to St. Joe for the year to be a bad one. We ended with five trout and a few flounder but those were some of the toughest 5 fish to coax. Tourney day we fished from Blacks to Windmark with alot of big hits o...

Re: Photo All-Release Tournament.....won't work?

This is all great in my opinion. Pretty soon everyone will learn that each person is entitled to their own opinion. There is no need to get over emotional about the argument but everyone's opinion is all valid. Yes if overfishing is occurring then our coastal resources can be affected. However, goin...

Re: Mr. April

Regulations are set by the government after data has been studied thoroughly. The men that go out and study the population dynamics and overall abundance of fish are confident that if each angler goes out and keeps 5 fish with one being over 20" our fisheries will be sustained and not crash. If...

Re: St. Joe Bay Big Fish

To help preserve your "spot" I will say that it was spanish land yesterday. We caught 3 trout out of the area with that one being the largest by far. No hard feelings and next time I'll do a little cropping to the picture!

St. Joe Bay Big Fish

Came home from school for the weekend with another one of the fisheries guys to get a break from all the pre-final mayhem. I decided to go out of St. Joe and try my luck on the backside of the weather system that came through. We woke up at 6 and realized the system had already passed. We got out on...

Re: Spawn??

Speckled trout females may spawn several times a year. They usually spawn at night between dawn and dusk along large grass beds to help hide their eggs. Unlike bass and crappie, speckled trout are not nest guarders. They are brood hiders where the females can release millions of eggs (in large femal...
