Re: Talk me out of buying knives on TV...
The best knives are Cutco. I have a set of Henckels and like these much better. They are expensive, but come with a lifetime warranty and free sharpening if you need it. A rep will come to your house and show you the knives. They will also come back and sharpen them. We have several knives including ...

Re: Take A Kid Fishing - 2013
Don,
You can count the Johnsons in! We can take two kiddos. We had a great time last year! We'll help after as well.

Re: Best tactic to catch Black Sea Bass
They are very tasty, but they need to be at least 13-14" Hate to keep the just legal ones as all you end up with is fish nuggets. Seems a shame to kill a fish for four fish nuggets. Anyway, the little buggers can be aggravating. We were on one of our holes last year when the water was crystal clear ...

Re: Best tactic to catch Black Sea Bass
Like Loki2 said. They eat anything, including each other! They like rocky areas, but we've occasionally catch them in the grass flats, but rocky areas are the best.

Re: What a great fishing day!
I misspoke. She has solid aluminum sidewalls. Had to check the website to be sure because they are so solid. She also has a rough water and ski package with complete aluminum under skin. Nevertheless, she weighs a lot for a pontoon boat. We've had many folks out on her who own "conventional" boats ...

Re: What a great fishing day!
We soooo wanted to land that Cobia. Haven't caught a keeper yet! We were so disappointed that it cut the line on the pontoon. Darn fish just wouldn't cooperate, but that's how they are. There's always the next time, right. That's what fishing is all about. We did get a keeper Hogfish, which I ...

Re: What a great fishing day!
We couldn't manage to get a keeper grouper in state waters before the season closed. So, when the weather was favorable yesterday, we headed out to federal waters to see if we could get a keeper. No luck though! Those days are few and far between. Wish we could have caught one, but we still got a ...

Re: What a great fishing day!
Yep! We are very mindful of the weather and cautious. We only go that far out on calm days and watch the weather carefully. The first inkling of seas picking up we head back. Believe it or not, that boat with three 27" toons, solid aluminum sidewalls, 80 gallon fuel tank, 250 Merc Verado, etc ...

Re: What a great fishing day!
Funny you should say that! I told Ken we need to put a fold down outdoor flat screen on the back ski tower and install one of those small satellites.
Don't think that's going to happen!

Re: What a great fishing day!
OAR 2 is 13 miles from the lighthouse. We cruise at around 24 mph. It took us about an hour. If I recall, water depth was 27 feet where we were.

What a great fishing day!
Finally, some decent weather with low wind! We planned on heading out of Shields at 6:00 am, but forgot they were closed on Monday! So, no boat in water overnight. Would have to call in the morning to have her put in at 7:00 am. Headed out at 7:30 ish to OAR 2. Catherine doesn't have her line in the ...
