Re: Cedar Key

Are there any navigational hazards (rocks, bars, shallows etc) to be concerned with?

Study those and it will answer any questions you have. Even shows you the Oyster Bars. Covers you all the way from Cedar Key. The data for ...

Re: Cedar Key

Coming up from Cedar Key, I couldn't tell you, as we always launched from the North. As for the spots themselves: Around the Suwannee spots, not so much. They are far enough out that it's not a real concern. As for the area around Shired Island it has lots of shallows, but not many bars until you ...

Re: sheep head

Can these areas be reached by road?
Where can I get fiddler crabs?

Thanks!

Anywhere that has Oyster Bars will hold Sheepshead. I find it easier to catch them on falling tide, because then they're forced off the bars. Also, if fishing from a dock or pier, LOOK STRAIGHT DOWN!! You will see monster ...

Re: sheep head

Sheephead are very plentiful this time of year in the Apalacicola around Bloddy Bluff and the Brothers area. They can be caught on the bottom with Fiddler Crabs for bait. Just toss the FC out there with weight to hold the bottom and pull right before the bites ;-)

LOL! 9 out of 10 times you will ...

Re: Cedar Key

Not quite Cedar Key, but it isn't that far by boat. The area around Buoy #4 coming out of the mouth of the Suwanee has been an incredibly productive spot in my experience. A GPS and a fish finder should put you exactly in the hole I speak of. If you head out a bit further from that spot there is a ...

Re: searching for redfish

My mistake... I thought Mashes Sands was the side with the Pier and Wakulla Beach was the part at the end of the road. As previously stated... I'm a newbie to the area.

Re: searching for redfish

Make a left at on the road at the BP right before Ochlockonee Bay bridge. Follow it all the way. Can't miss it.

Re: Redfish Bonanza pt 2!! PICS!!

Each time I went I arrived in late afternoon at dead low tide. Even though the tide was in transition, like you said, there was a steady current from all the runoff. In each case the fish were biting fairly steadily, but it was as the tide really began to turn to rising that the bite exploded. The ...

Redfish Bonanza pt 2!! PICS!!

Went to Bald Point again this afternoon with my dad. We could only get frozen shrimp. Below is our haul. The bite was ridiculous again. Got probably 12-14 reds total, 1 Black Drum, 1 too small Trout, and a whole ton of catfish (those don't count).

Red #1: 26.5"
Red#2: 21"
Red#3: 18"
Red#4: 19"
Drum ...

Re: Anyone know where to get live shrimp?

Update: Have been checking in regularly with all the shops in the area, and no one has any shrimp. At first Crum's and the BP told me they were expecting some later today, but now are saying it will be Saturday at the earliest. Maybe this info will save someone else the goose chase I have been on ...
