Chased by Storms, Caught some Fish, & Stopped by FWC—Carrabelle Fishing on June 27, 2025
The boat was getting pounded by the chop as we headed south of East Pass. To smooth out the ride, we zig-zagged through the waves. This approach took us far off the course from one of our usual bait spots. We had to find a new one. Eventually, the sonar showed a huge cloud of bait below the boat in ...

You Name It, We Probably Caught One—Carrabelle on June 20, 2025
Friday at 4:20 am, my fishing buddy texts me, “Radar doesn’t look promising. What do you think? . . . The future radar blows up.” I was thinking it was time to go fishing. We had pushed back fishing trips for several weeks due to weather.

Re: Guided trip to Venice La
Great report. I would love to see pictures from the trip, especially pictures of the big alligator munching on the smaller one.

Re: Memorial Weekend Pandemonium—Red Snapper, Red Grouper, a Hook in the Hand
Jigs will get you for sure, funny how it's always a red grouper gaggle that doubles up on the jig. Makes me wish I had went on the trip I was invited on the 24th but having to put in a new drain field and a new driveway probably would have been a bit much when I'm going in a week :-D
Good luck ...

Yep, real life experience and real data trumps “scientific” estimates every time. I am hopeful that the regulators start caring enough to prioritize getting better data for establishing gag grouper regulations.

Memorial Weekend Pandemonium—Red Snapper, Red Grouper, a Hook in the Hand
Carrabelle, May 25, 2025. We launched at the Carrabelle River around 7 am which was early enough to get one of the few remaining parking spots at the ramp. We headed south and fished for cigar minnows to supplement our frozen bait. Then we headed beyond S Tower and a few feet deeper than 100’ to a ...

I'm staying down by St Andrews State Park. It won't be completely low tide the next few days but any suggestions where I can go floundering?
I don’t know much about floundering or Saint Andrews State Park, but if you figure it out, I would love to hear about it in a blog post. A few pictures ...

Mangrove Snapper, Red Grouper, and SHARKS—Carrabelle on May 19, 2025
On Monday, I fished out of Carrabelle with some friends and followed my usual routine. I picked up the boat from Martin Marine, launched at a ramp on the Carrabelle River, caught a variety of baitfish offshore, and targeted the most expensive legal fish in the area. Upon returning home and reviewing ...

Bienvenue! Il y a beaucoup de gros requins dans la région de Big Bend. Veuillez les attraper et les manger. Les requins mangent trop de red snapper et de grouper.
