Re: St. Marks 1/29-30
Of my three kids, she is the most like me. We don't talk a lot, but usually know what the other is thinking.
We had a special two days on the water. God grants us those occasionally.
If I could only teach her to clean fish!

St. Marks 1/29-30
Took my soon to be employed college grad daughter for a couple of days of winter time fishing, which by the way, I have little experience with. Went up the Wakulla early Friday. Said daughter quickly put a slot red in the cooler. I couldn't catch a cold, so put rod in rod holder while I played with ...

Re: SWAPPING SOME INFO
Ifishtoo,
I fish out of Indian Pass. You can Cath snapper off of the wreck you are talking about. There is definitely more live bottom more toward the west. There is a protected area, "Madison Swanson" that is off limits but you can find some live bottom, ridges and what not north of there from ...

I would have to agree with Dubble Bubble though I walked behind a Snapper my Dad had bought me until about eight years ago. Have the dealer do maintenance once a year. All I do is put gas in it and sit on it. Occasionally I even drink a beer while on it(in the yard only).

Re: A trip down memory lane for some folks
That Detty's fish gripper is the best fish scaling device ever made. I have one that my dad bought back in about 1966 or so. Many a bream has been scaled with that thing over the years. Now when I use it to scale Redfish and those ever so rare ARS.

Re: Thru hull transducer
Doc,
Garmin makes a temp only sensor. Look up semperfifishing on the electronics section on thehulltruth.com and he will get you one. He will give you accurate advice on transducers as well.

Re: Aucilla X Lower Unit = :(
Ouch! That does hurt. Were you in the river or just getting out into the flats when that rock reached up and bit your motor?
I found out just how far the Rock Garden extends to the south a few years ago, but my motor got off light with only a bight out of the skeg, bent prop, and bent prop shaft ...

Re: Thoughts on Pin fish traps
I usally drop mine in about 100 ft of water near where I am going to sabiki bait. Use northern mackeral. Be sure to squish them a little so some of the good stuff is starting to leak out. If you are in a good spot it will have a bunch of bait in less than an hour. We work a couple of sabikis while ...

Re: Mexico Beach Offshore trip
Got my addiction to offshore fishing there a few years ago myself, so be careful! Rode out a storm the size of Katrina with my 10 year old son in my 22 ft bay boat, then caught a couple of mahis, a triple tail and a large king. Been hooked ever since.
Nice report.

Re: Triple Tail?
Gyrene,
Triple tail usually hang out next to some floating structure like a bough, log, piece of trash or a crab trap marker.

Tabb beat me to it, but good afternoon. Don't post on here as much as I used to or should. Will try to whet some appetites in the offshore section before long.

Re: Foot long bluegill
That is not a blue gill. It is a red eared sun fish or what most of us call a shell cracker. It is one of the best fighting fish there is.
