No....RPM's from the factory are for the engine...the combination of the engine and boat determine what RPMs you turn....If your turning to high RPMs you go up in pitch, if your turning too low RPMs you go downRedbelly wrote:Shouldn't a motor have factory rpm setting for it? So you would just buy a prop based on that?
A 40 HP, with a 13 pitch prop. on a 16' flat bottom boat won't turn the same RPM as a 40 HP, with a 13 pitch prop, on a 15' pad boat.Redbelly wrote:Shouldn't a motor have factory rpm setting for it? So you would just buy a prop based on that?
If I recall, you have a tunnel. That's a whole nother set of variables. A 4 blade will definately help the overall preformance of a tunnel. But you need the right pitch 4 blade. You need to know what type and pitch prop you're running now. You need to know how many RPM you're turning now, at WOT. Then you can determine what pitch 4 blade.
All that said, not all 4 blades are the same. Barhopr is running a Powertech. That's possibly the best reasonably priced 4 blade on the market. Michigan Wheel makes one that will not give you the preformance you're looking for.
You could accomplish the results you desire by paying me $1000 to set your boat up, and determine what prop you need.

What was I supposed to do today?
Tincan that is a great offer, and the pay later if I can is a great option.
My freind has a rpm gauge and this weekend we are gonna dtermine where I am at with the 3 blade right now.
I do have a tunnel hull 16' Scandy White. I know that Scandy sells all their tunnels with 4 blade props now.
Before I try a Bob's hydro plate I want to get a 4 blade on the attack vessel.
I'll post the results if we in fact do get to this rpm test. I value all youse knowlegable boaters and youse's guesses....
