Okay I put in behind BB at Econ on Saturday. The guys in the channel had their cowling off and were pulling plugs when I passed them - I really think they broke down there.

That birdrack is going to kill someone. Its just something you look at and it looks like its going to kill someone. I mentioned this to Tin Can at JBT after the tourney.

Its just something about the angles of the creosote poles. Someone is going to hit it and the end of one of those poles is going to ride up onto the deck of the boat and hit someone at whatever speed the boat is going and kill them. If the other folks on the deck of the boat make it through impact they are going to be dealing with a boat with a big hole in it.

So please someone do whatever it is that you do in this situation. IMHO its like knowing there is a landmine on a hunting trail in the national forrest. I saw it on Saturday too - looking for it I almost hit the thing and its not pretty.

I would imagine the Coast guard has dominion over the bouys. Isn't there a Coastie on FS panhandle that could tell someone who to contact?

I called FWC and gave them the # and they said they thought the CG had jurisdiction because it was on the flats and not in a channel and that they would pass the info along.

I haven't looked at this tripod closely. What would it take for a few of us to dismantle it?
What was I supposed to do today?

Could this be a club project to get and mount proper signage on the obstruction. I sent an email to a company that makes the marine quality signs. We'll see what they come back with. How bout it Tom?! A club can always use good publicity. Don't we have a sports writer for the Tall. Dem. on the Forum to get the ball rolling?

Those guys were having engine troubles, my problems were on the way in . If its not low tide, I always slow down to close to idle speed , call em a dumb arse under my breath, and then head on. At low tide, I dont always have that luxury. On days like Sat, If I had let out all the way, Id of been calling SeaTow. Dang Atticus, if you were right behind me, you should have hollered! I might have wanted to follow you to your fishing holes instead!! Was that you in the big skiff?? If so , youve got a huge set on you running to the right at the second no wake zone!!

Actually, dubble's post told me about it. I used to fish near it before the storm and I had no idea until his post that it was down. Thats what is scary, I may have gone ripping through there hunting a trout near that birdrack and found me a light pole instead!!

A crane!! Dang water logged poles probably weigh 7-8 hundred lbs each. We'd be much better off marking it. If it is marked next time ya'll go out there, Bad Behavior didnt do it(liability issues) !!!!!
