After going to Carrizo Springs, Texas hunting for a week with CT, I had not even pulled the trigger all though I saw over 150 bucks in five days. I saw many 130-140" bucks but not the one I went to Texas to take. I did take over 300 pics though and Ill share some of them in another post. Anyways, the next to the last day of the season in Georgia, I went back to my farm to give it one last try for my big buck. At about 7:15 or so he stepped out 150 yds away in my front clearcut. Heres some pics of him. He grossed 131 1/8. Maybe not the biggest buck ever, but very satisfying knowing that when I bought the place, I didnt have any decent bucks. I didnt have any pics of any quality bucks for about the first three years and through strict management and an extensive protein supplement program, Ill just call this buck the fruits of my labors!! I ve taken pics of 25-30 different 3.5 year old bucks that will go in the 115-120 range and should be some awesome bucks in a couple more years. Ive finally got my buck/doe ratio close to a decent ratio and I had many of my does drop two fawns this year. Im super proud if this buck even though he isnt the biggest Ive taken. Nothing like owning a piece of property and manageing the wildlife on it. I didnt pull the trigger all year, even on a doe. Ive gotten to where I leave the does for the kids we let come on the property. If by the end of the season, there havent been enough taken, Ill take a few, but It sure is a great feeling for the kids to get their first deer on your land. Hope you guys enjoy the pics and get ready for plenty of BS from BB this spring!!!!
