Free as birds we were. Wind in our hair, lures on our line, rods in the holders, gas in the tank.......... BANG!!!
Skegless and running, minus a leaf on the prop, we hobbled over to our spot. My buddy wanted a red, but I love my trout. The reds were everywhere, but out of range.
We moved into a creek and caught a 22" trout on a bomber and a 24" red on a spinner.
Finally the tide moved in enough to bang the shoreline. Nothing. I was getting a little frustrated at this point, I couldn't let my buddy down. "Let's head to the trout spot" I said. Cheers
We drifted up on the spot and instantly doubled up, two 21" trout. I dropped the anchor and we proceeded to land 7 more trout all in the 20" to 21" range. All were caught on 7" Bass Assasin. It was a great ending to an aggravating day.
Analysis: Structure, Structure, Structure. I thought that the fish would be sunning on the mud banks on high tide, but they weren't. They were holding on rocks.
The boat is in the shop as I type. Insureance is covering the $1500 bill. God bless Progressive.
