They finally drug up a short while later

Got to the next spot about 30 minutes later in 45 ft. We got out the light tackle rigs and decided to play with the rock bass.....here's Bman with a nice one

The rockies are quite plentiful on this spot, so we proceeded to catch them one after another with relative ease on jigs and squid. Here's Bman's pop-in-law (Dean) with a nice sand trout....

After an hour and 50 or so rockies in the cooler, we decided to go try a grouper hole since the winds were calming a bit and the seas had decreased to 2-3's..

30 minutes later, we were at the spot. I circled the boat over the area numerous times trying to get a good mark on the spot. Finally, we had a good mark and a buoy out.....time to set the drift. On the first drift we made it within 20 ft. or so of the marker, so down went the lines. Right away Dean gets a hit......this would be often throughout the afternoon

First keeper of the day.....

Then Bman gets a nice hit.......up comes this nice snapper just a few weeks too early....

Finally, the boys on the other side get involved....

Watching everybody else catch nice fish made me want to get in on the action. I finally baited up a line, and a few minutes later boated this beauty....

Then, I found my first spanish of the year.....in 70 ft.

Then Raymond got a good bite and found his first of the day....

A short while later.....his second and biggest one of the day

About 4:30pm, we decided to call it a day and head on back in. The seas had decreased to 1-2 ft and there was just a light breeze which made for a nice ride in.....unlike the trip out. Back at C-Quarters we unloaded the catch and posed for a few pictures and nearly got attacked by pelicans wanting our unused bait......

Then it was time to load up.....

The day started off rough, but we stuck with it and it paid off ending up to a great day on the water. We fished from 35-70ft. with all grouper caught in 70ft. No shallow grouper today.....just rock bass
