I have a pair of Ocean Waves Backwater Green AND a pair of Costa's with the 580 amber glass. Both are exceptional but the 580's are superior to anything I have ever had. I think sunglasses are a hugely important piece of equipment and you get what you pay for. However, after 8 months of the Costa's I had to abandon them in order to get perscription lenses. I had to go back to to Ocean Waves because I needed a progressive lens and you can not get them in the 580 glass lens. It is nice to be able to read the GPS and tie knots now. Anyway, send me a PM if you want to consider a very deep discount on a slighty used perfect pair of 580 Harpoon Costa's.

Go with the Costa's. I have 3 pair, all from So Ga Outdoors. Call Heath and he'll make you a hell of a deal.

Maui JIm Kahuna... They are double polarized - vertical and horizontal to cut the direct sun and glare from the water below. two year warranty. what I like the most is that they are heavy.

i got maui jim stingray. compared them side by side with my buddy's 580 fathoms on the water, maui's were seemed a lot clearer to me at least. more stout and better glass/polarization in my opinion.

Decided.
Thanks for all the help!
Obsessing over stuff like this is twisted fun for me.

Maui JIm Polycarb lens are what I lost in the surf.
Sucks, but I did, after all, find those on the side of the road.
Flatfish helped me find these for a great price:
Costa Brine, Tortoise Frame, Green Mirror, Amber 580 Lens

THE BEST POLARIZED SUNGLASSES I HAVE EVER HAD WERE SOME OF THE FIRST ONES THAT THEY SOLD IN WALMART OR WOOLWORTHS, I CANT REMEMBER. THEY HAD A COMPUTER SCREEN THAT WHEN YOU PUT THE GLASSES ON YOU COULD SEE THE FISH SWIMMING ON THE SCREEN. I LOVED THOSE $10 GLASSES. I HAVE THE COSTA'S, BUT FOR DIFFERNT TYPES OF FISHING CONDITIONS DIFFERNT SHADES WORK BETTER. I WAS NOT ABOUT TO BUY 3 DIFFERNT PAIRS OF COSTA'S AT $140 A POP. I STARTED LOOKING AROUND AND I ENDED UP WITH 4 DIFFERENT GLASSES FROM FLYING FISHERMAN. PRICES RANGE FROM $19 TO $60. THEY DID HAVE SOME HIGH DOLLOR ONES AS WELL. I SENT SEVERAL PAIR BACK UNTILL I ENDED UP WITH THE ONES I WANTED. AND HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED.

Been a popular subject.
Everybody seems to feel pretty strongly about their choice.
In a word, polarized.

Sorry, had to.
And I didn't take the advice of the guy that (evidently) sees the most fish.
