So far....methinks the consensus is overwhelmingly against Mr. Treehugger!

Touche! I guess my problem is that you guys call him a tree-hugger as if tree-hugging is a bad thing. I guess what I'm saying is don't degrade tree-huggers like that. I think that anyone who is a sportsman is a conservationist and an environmentalist. I could be wrong.

Yes and me thinks we have all had to deal with a dude like this at one point or another. It also seems like these are the folks setting the bag limits too!

I agree that we are environmentalists.... I just like to fry mine!
We need to learn to work with the "tree huggers" but so often they are more aligned with the anti hunters and antifishers...
We both want clean water and undeveloped land and want to enjoy it.

Sounds like this guy is more of a curmudgeon.

I've got more than a few friends that are self proclaimed "tree-huggers" and we get along fine. We don't agree on everything, but we get along. Heck, they even convinced me and the wife to start doing some grocery shopping at New Leaf  I even got one of them to try a piece of fried mullet :lick: and he told me that he could do a little "fried" from time to time just as long as he had a few    to wash it down
I agree with what Barry said about them being more aligned with the anti-hunting/fishing crowd. It's just the defensive tactic they use when they feel the rest of us are catching, shooting and cutting down everything in sight with no regard for the future. Just not true. Without proper conservation, we couldn't keep doing what we like to do.....there's alot of give and take.

....and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea (and pond), and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth"
Genesis 1:28

Sounds to me like He trusts us to take care of it

True confession time I guess......somedays I don't have dominion over the fish! :smt010

Also, I long since gave up on having dominion over my redheaded wife...I tried once when I "wore a younger man's clothes"...it has taken over
30 years but I've pretty much recovered!

Tree hungger doesn't necessarily mean conservationists.

However, each sportsman, such as ourselves, are the true conservationists. Our license money, taxes on sporting goods, duck stamp purchases and donations to ducks unlimited and the like do more for conservation than all of the tree huggers put together. A vast majority of the huggers only investment is their big mouth. We sportsman vote with our pocket book.
