Just to keep stirring it up, I'm not the brother. They both seem like spoiled members of the lucky sperm club. I've earned everything I've got, including my boat.

Re: The Ulitmate Boating Predicament
I feel your pain. My father has a couple boats that look worse after two years than mine has after 10. He simply fishes, puts it up outside and moves on. There are hooks, knotted anchor lines mud, blood and pine tar everywhere. Dirves me absolutely nuts, but it is his boat. We have no idea what your relationshgip is with your father or if you can afford another boat. based on your options and the fact that he has essetentially given you a boat for your use. I have to assume it is pretty good. with that in mind, I might approach him with the option of buying the boat. granted there are other used boats out there, but you have the history with this one. I may even approach them him with teh idea of some cash and a smaller boat that can be pulled with a car. Again, it is your relationship, but I would not push it if he balks. If he wants his boat, give it to him and buy another. Craigslist is loaded right now and talk with car dealerships. They are running a ton of boats through the auctions up here. Anyway, sorry for your prediciment. In the interim, Can you rent a boat for the week?
