St. Andrews 06/27/09

Post by Chalk »

Got up late - got ice, got drinks, got gas...stopped again for some snacks and finally launched the Deuce with my side kick Lil Chalk about 0730 this morning. Checked the tides last night and thought we were fishing rising water all day...ended up fishing through a slack. Ended up running west in anticipation of the 10-15 southwest wind and riding it back in.

First stop produced some rat reds and a few slot trout....second spot nothing, third nothing, fourth nothing...think I fished a slack tide most of the morning :o

Finally found a few fish once the tide and wind started kicking...We ended up with about 6 reds and six trout. Rain clouds to the north kept us cool most of the day...biting flies and bumble bees were buzzing and biting good...Lil Chalk was a fishing machine all day...reeling in all of the fish with exception to the big one...we had to tag team it. Got on a school of upper slot reds that was there then gone in a matter of seconds...ended the day.

Boat ran great...she is a skinny running girl and pretty quiet as well....still not sure if I will keep her....but she was fun to drive and fish out of today.

Can wait til next time.

To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.
