WANTED: Used AR-15 in good condition

Post by big bend gyrene »

Anybody got one and need some cash? :D

Related question... know they don't come cheap and rounds cost more, but wonder if any board members have tried out the newer ARs that fire .243 rounds versus the .223s. Would be willing to fork over a few more bucks for a .243 AR. Remington sure has a sweet looking one out there...

DMPS makes one too...

If anyone has tried out one of the .243, be interested in hearing what you think of them.

Never shot the Remingtons before, but I did just build a AR-15 with a DPMS upper and it is just as accurate as some of my bolt actions

Many thanks, whitebc.

Bit surprised not more responses... guessing good many board members have a few ARs stowed away. Guess ol' Obama's got everybody clinging to their guns and religion... ;-)

Big Daddy could be watching you.

Most people on the web, have NO GUNS and NO AMMO. LOL

Good luck to you in your search.

IMO, when you think of an AR you think .223 not .243
Take a kid hunting or fishing and you will be rewarded.

DeanMac, no question about it... he is watching. New York Times article reported just this week that social sites are being monitored by the Obama administration more closely than ever in the past. Wonder why the same libs that were up in arms about the Patriot Act aren't screaming from the rooftops about big O watching us... things that make you go "hmmm...." :smt011

As for the .223 versus .243, absolutely right. Vast majority of the ARs are .223 but a few have been recently released in the .243 for folks intending to use them for hunting deer, since many states won't allow any rounds in the .22 range of rounds to be used. NOT saying that .22 calibers won't kill deer with a decent shot (FULLY appreciate they will), just that the .243 is much more usable (legally speaking) around the states for bigger game hunting.

Truly already have a decent rifle, just not in the AR family and being a gyrene who's been out a few years just miss my old M16A2... :-D

I just bought a conversion kit for my AR, 200 bucks and I can shoot the .03/round out of my favorite gun. It just replaces the bolt and uses the same upper you shoot the 223 out of
