Tom,

Those numbers worked great as a route in my magellan, looking forward to safely going out of the econfina in the future. Thanks again for a wonderful site.

Tom Keels wrote:Mapsource is only garmin compatable. I'll post the actual numbers for my route. You need to put them in your respective GPS's as a route. I have tested this route on tides as low as .7 and have no less than 2 feet of water under the boat while on plane the whole route. I do not warranty this against bent skegs or lower units. This is for information only and I will not be responsible for any damages. Use at your own risk.

I know this is an older post but does anyone still use this route?

I don't have the numbers plugged in been using this same basic route for the past five years and have yet to hit bottom at the mouth (though got caught in a super skinny tide coming back in one time and poled to deeper water inside the mouth as to not push my luck). This said, when it's under 1.5+ tide the pucker factor goes up exponentiall and under 1', I hold my breath until I hit deeper water, & that's with the jack plate way up and motor tilted back as far as it can go.

Early on I did bump the big rock that's just past the stilt houses/no-wake zone going out. Also bumped one of the smaller rocks that are near the back side shore at the ramp itself. Luckily those hits were early and light bumps -- just enough to give Marine's Dream a few light Econfina battle scars.

If you don't know where the bigger one is in the middle of the river past the stilt houses, run a search on past Econfina route posts. It's well documented & one worth respect in light of the number of victims it has claimed.

I've seen the one past the no wake zone sign (headed out) bend a prop shaft and one out in the middle of no where 1-2 miles offshore tear a prop slam to hell.
It almost seems worth the run up from Keaton.

From what I have seen lately you need a secret (agent, guest, muse, etc.)
Stay OFF my holes and bring a net with a string tied to your leg.
