Hit Steinhatchee about 12:30 Sunday afternoon, the Bay Reef has been doing lots of sitting so needed to run it some. Had a friend meet me in his boat and he got out a few minutes before I did with a young couple in a Carolina Skiff between us as we idled out. Passed the no wake sign and got up on plane as did the two in front of me, got past all the hard turns in the channel and as we passed marker 21 the waves coming down the channel were pretty bad, wind seemed to be in the 20+ mph range. My Bay Reef is usually pretty dry but the wind was blowing the the bow spray right back in our faces. My Baby Momma and Baby Girl (17) were not happy as they looked like drowned rats minutes later. The Carolina Skiff dumped the throttle right in front of me after he took a big wave over the bow and turned around, back to the river. Got back up on plane and meet my buddy heading back in as well said he was n't going out in that?
Ran on out to near the channel end and moved over to the area near the channel known as the "Trout Flat". Not much going on a couple of sea bass some shorts etc. Drifted with the wind and waves were not a big deal as long as you were just drifting along.
Move in to the grass line and caught a few legal trout but released for another day. The girls got tired of the wave action so I moved back out to the Trout Flat area only to get on the absolute HOTTEST Ladyfish bite I have ever seen

I was using some Trigger X shrimp (Nuclear Chicken) I had gotten on clearance and they were killing them.. Several times my wife and i would double up and have two and three ladyfish run right up to the boat following the one we had hooked up. We had fun watching them jump and fight so it turned a relatively lousy catching day into some fun. The girls were laughing and yelling at the aerial acrobats of the "poor man's tarpon" and they remembered to keep them out of the boat so no poop stains either.
Boat and OB ran good, no problems out of the new axle and trailer adjustment, girls had a good time despite getting wet and they got practiced up standing in a rocking boat for snapper fishing in June = good time
