I've never been to the middlegrounds. That would be an interesting trip.
What was I supposed to do today?

According to my Mapsource, it's 88 miles from C'Belle to the first wreck and 103 miles from Saint Marks to the same point :o

There has been talk of a armada going deep for an overnight trip, but it hasent happened yet. Im not sure when the best time of year would be weather or fish wise but I would be interested. 8)

I'd be interested too. But I think I'd have to be crew and not Captain: I don't think it'd be safe in the 13'er! :o

You can go further south of St Marks and decrease the distance.

Wevans, post a pic so we can see what yer talking about.
I don't think my bluechart software goes that far out! :o

Bait boy, Captain K does middle grounds trips and has a new boat. Check the guides link on this site. Also check spearboard.com, they mention several charters that do middle grounds trips. I'm not sure you'll find a cheap trip with it being close to 200 miles round trip, and moving from spot to spot....that's a lot of fuel! Big bend charters runs a one day middle grounds trip, I think it's 12 hours, 6 of that is riding.
Good luck, and let us know how the trip goes!

I'd be interested in a trip out there if the seas were calm. The last time I was out there (20 yrs ago) I went on a party boat out of St. Petersburg. On the way back we got into some 15's and 20's and ralph made his presence known thorugh the boat. :smt078 I even contributed to the chum line. That was the only time I had ever been sick on a boat, and I sure hope it was my last.
Time is the most precious commodity we have in life, stay focused.

This is from an on-line chart so it will not show the correct depth numbers this far out, see chart 11400. The Buoy station 42036 is 106 Nautical miles N N/W of Tampa

Looks like its closer to Cedar Keys.
