:o I've heard people say you had to carry your own rock to stand on if you wanted to fish opening day of trout season in North Georgia........don't even look like they got room for an extra rock up there!! :-D

Nice pics!

Growin' up in WV, that's about what it looks like during the entire trout season. Basically, once they quit stocking, there are no more fish till next season. There are a few rivers/creeks that are exceptions; but, it brings new meaning to the words "fishing pressure." I've seen trucks actually chasing the stock truck...kind of sad.

Imagine what it would be like if it happened here.......

St. Marks Lighthouse .... folks shoulder to shoulder, lining the shore wade fishing...:smt012

Across the Flats.... row after row of boats stretched all the way across the horizon...:smt011

The ramp at the fort..... row after row of empty trailers.. :smt009

Thank goodness we have our own paradise in which to fish. :smt080

Now that's what I call fishing pressure. Doesn't seem like that would be a lot of fun. Half of my enjoyment of fishing comes from the solitude and the time to ponder life.

While I enjoy a bunch fishing together I enjoy fishing by myself or mebbe with one other the most.

ST99,
Never fished Shaver's Fork. I was raised in the southern part of WV. Shaver's is one of those few places that does hold trout year around...I believe part of it is catch and release and another part is fly fish only so I'm sure that helps.

Does seem like it at first, but you need to know that the MO Conservation Commission releases 7,000 trout just prior to opening day and then continues with a program that releases 200-800 per week through out the season.

Earman,

We fished all around Elkins and Spruce Knob. Some is catch and release and artificial only. It holds some very nice trout. Nothing like seeing snow still on the ground in May and June.
