This is how I catch cold weather bass. I use a trickworm on a 4/0 hook with no weight. Throw it out and let it sit for up to 3 minutes or so. Then just barely drag it about 1-2 foot and let it sit another 2-3 minutes. I am no Roland Martin but I catch bass and thats how I catch em. Tequila Sunrise for dark water, Green Pumpkinseed for clearer water. I always believed that if the fish are lethargic so is the food. Drop shot is a good technique but I typically use it in deep water. Tie the hook off the weight so it is just above the bottom cover.
