Fen Holloway/Rock Island 11-1-05

MudDucker, his son Drew, and myself hit the water, err...ummm I mean mud at daybreak this morning at the Fen. Was no problem in MudDucker's Gator Trax with the mud motor. Hit the flats east of R.I. and each of us started chunking a different lure. I don't remember what caught the first fish. :o The ticket seemed to be a green SWA eel under the c.t. For about 20 minutes we wore 'em out! Got 3 keepers out of that deal. My 2 were the biggest. :-D Just kiddin' Muddy! Fished all the way around R.I. Got into a mess of reds on the back side but none would commit. I mean they were everywhere! Nice ones too. Couldn't get them to bite. Caught a few more short trout and the wind shifted. Decided to call it a day. Made it back to the hill around 2:30. Had a gooood grouper sammich at Roy Deal's, (because there were no oysters). Met some of MudDucker's kin folks there. :smt006

Total for the day:
1 blue million short trout
2 18" trout
1 16" trout
1 20" trout

Enjoyed it Andy. Look forward to the next time.

Sounds like a good day. How was the water clarity east of and around the island?

Couldn't see bottom anywhere. There is some grass though. We fished mirrolures and DOA's real slow and would bring up grass. We fished from 6'-1 1/2'. Caught most of the fish in the 3-4' range I'd say. The only time we saw bottom was right before we hit it. :smt012

Hmmm, you got three keepers...lets see, there were 4 keepers in the box, I put the first and the last one in, so I think you betta do a recount

First fish was caught on a copper tailed jig.

Beautiful day. :smt006

Once in a great while I have that luxury. Most often I see it
AFTER I hit. :smt010

Wonder why reds wouldn't cooperate?

Hmmm. Better put on your spectacles there MudDucker. I said my TWO were the biggest. THREE keepers came out of that drift using the green eel.

Is that what you call it. I call it beating the fish off the hook with the net. :D

I don't recall any counting issues. You usually don't have any to count.
What was I supposed to do today?
