Met Snoopy and his boys at his house at 6:00. Buy the time we loaded the boat and got gas and ice we left Thomasville about 7:15. Got to Jerry's for bait and realized we had no boat plug and he was out of them. So we head to Sheilds and get a plug, get to the fort and launch the boat around 9:00. We get to the main channel and we're off. Boats purring like a kitten, smiles all around, then POP POP POP POP POP POP POP. I said what the heck is that?!!!! Snoopy informed me that we blew the center out of a sparkplug.(inboard moter) So we limp back to the dock with the moter cover open to let the gas out. Can you fix it? I said. His reply was, I don't know! The kid's and I sat with the boat while he wen't to the marina. Couldn't find an easy out to extract the plug. He tried a the ramp with a bolt for a while but it wasn't working so we loaded the boat up and headed for home at 10:00 Stopped in woodville at the Ace hardware and they had an easy out. And after much grunting he got the plug out. Put in the new one then decided to change the rest. Wen't well until the last one. IT BROKE!! Tried till 12:15 to get it out then went home. We wondered if we should have wen't out after changing the one plug, but what if the other heavily rusted plug would have blown way offshore somewhere. So we just concidered ourselves lucky and we would already have gas and bait for next time.
Tuff day sure enough H n M! Like you said, it could have happened a few miles out and made the day even worse. Glad your ready for the next trip
As long as we're talking about problems... let me just mention to everyone who trailers their rig... My wife and I were returning from visiting my folks in Frost Proof on Sunday. I counted no less than 6 trailers or vehicles with folks working on changing a destroyed tire. This time of year when the temp of the road gets up there and folks forget that their tires are beginning to show some wear often times are reminded of the fact along side of the road.

IS OLD BEN HILL GRIFFIN STILL LIVING, HE AND I WERE FRIENDS WHEN WE LIVED IN AVON PARK. WE LIVED ON THE LITTLE LAKE BEHIND THE HOSPITAL JUST NORTH OF AVON. SPENT MANY A HAPPY TIME DOWN THERE BEFORE THE FREEZE OF 57, THAT FREEZE WIPED MY PLOW SHEAR CLEAN, KILLED EVER TREE WE HAD, 57 WOULD HAVE BEEN THE FIRST CROP OF ORANGES.
PA THE OLD MAN OF THE SEA
Don't know if Mr Ben is still alive but the family and the name is still going strong.
I mentioned to Dad how the trees looked so pale and was wondering if it was do to lack of rain since it has been so dry down there. He said it was the variety of trees that have been planted since the last bad freeze. They are supposed to be more cold tolerant but don't have that real deep green that I remember. The processing plants we passed were all going great guns.

Hesus !! Like Sir said you re lucky it didn't happen offshore....
You are also lucky the trailer didn't break-down on the way home....
My evinrude manual says to apply some graphite on the threads of the new plugs, and that will make the next spark plug change a breeze. I changed my plugs yesterday and used a Teflon lubricant on the threads, and set the gap kind of tight.
Better luck next time...
