Gobble Gobble Spitttt Drummmmm Boom!!!

Post by fishfeeder »

Popped out of bed this morning, and decided to chase the old man I have been after since last year. Due to the heavy fog, I figured I could get a little closer to the roosting area.
I lightly called just enough to get the hens cackling. Then shut up (Less is more) 30 minutes later a hen flew down almost in my lap….and just behind her the old timer pitched out gobbled once on the ground. Then strutted all the way up a hill spitteeen and drumeeen the whole way. Then I officially introduced myself… :smt006

KyTrkyHntr,

Don't make me have to come up there and bail you out for hunting on the Mammoth Cave property!

I had to go up to Edmonson County for a funeral a couple of months ago and I cut through the park on my way back home. There were turkeys and deer everywhere. It's hard to imagine that, growing up there in the 50s, I never saw a deer or a turkey.

LOL! That would be a hot spot!!! It's loaded with birds. The Ky Dept of Fish & Wildlife and the NWTF have done a great job increasing the bird population in our state.

Sorry you had to make a trip up here for under those circumstances.... Next time you're up this way shoot me a e-mail and I'll buy you some Split Tree BBQ for lunch!
