Very thankful for your son's service, Mjsigns!

Harmsway, back in '96 I can tell you how they handled the cursing in the USMC...
Within a minute or two of our DIs taking possession of us they had us sit down and told us they had a VERY SERIOUS issue to discuss. They then said that they needed to know if a single Marine recruit would be offended by their cursing... but before answering, they wanted us to know that cursing allowed them to verbally express their frustrations, providing a bit of relief to them in trying times, versus... well... having to resort to other means of taking out their frustrations. They said they would give us a minute or two to consult as a platoon, and then return to take a vote. Took about a second for us to all agree, "LET'S LET THEM CURSE!" All I'm going to say on that one is that if they would have dished out even a single iota additional punishment without the cursing, I'm sure glad we let 'em do it!
