Re: Scoop Sea's Oil Spill Thread
The picture is pretty convincing: http://www.cnn.com/2010/TRAVEL/06/23/pensacola.beach.oil/index.html?hpt=T2 Pensacola beach has a pretty good soaking of oil. It's only a matter of time before pictures like this are taken further East. It's a simple matter of volume and saturation. Why hasn't the Fl...

Pond Walking
I went for a predawn walk around my fishing hole on Saturday morning and Sunday morning. I started off by throwing a rapala topwater before sunrise, and a carolina rigged floating worm behind a 1/8 oz weight after that. Ended up with 15 bass total over those two days with the biggun coming in at 5 l...
YES!!
The president forced BP to establish a $20 bil fund for those hurt by spewing oil! This seems much more honest than the "mission complete" speech from the aircraft carrier that the last president offered up... As for me, I have legal standing as a purveyor of recreational activities in the...

Re: scallops to open early
The bad part of this deal is that the season is now opening on a Saturday. I've had this fun tradition of swinging a weekday off and getting out there on day one before the flotilla arrives.

Re: Scoop Sea's Oil Spill Thread
So Fox News is reporting a whole new spill from an entirely different rig: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/06/08/fickle-bp-oil-slick-scatters-threats-unevenly-gulf-coast/#content This particular spill is 6 years old, and everyone including the feds has lied about it. Who knows how many rigs out there...

Re: Scoop Sea's Oil Spill Thread
Scoop, is the relief well a guaranteed solution? Could they punch down there and miss? It seems like everyone concerned has staked everything on the relief well as the final solution.
I will certainly offer up a toast when it is online and working as advertised.

Re: Cap On Oil Well
So apparently being mad at BP and wanting to exercise my capitalistic right to boycott them has been delicately linked to communism... What a crock.. Here's the truly irrational train of thought: Some Tea Party conservative says that government regulators hold just as much responsibility as BP for t...

Why isn't the Florida Army National Guard rolling outing in mass? Armories throughout the panhandle are sitting idle
Re: Oil Spill
do what?
Re: Oil Spill
Dubble, you are absolutely right that BP is best equipped to fix the problem. The feds would (and are) make (making) a big mess of things. But, BP has been deceptive since day one on the magnitude of the problem, starting with the volume of the spill. I am not convinced that they are only considerin...

Re: Bowrider useful in the panhandle?
I hate to say it, but the oil spill should factor into your decision. Really do your homework and try to draw a conclusion on whether or not our gulf fishery is about to be dessicated for many years to come. Or, just wait a few months to see if they ever do cap the thing or cut it off. I'm not sure ...
Re: Oil Spill
So the governor is saying that oil will reach Florida within 48 hours: http://www.tallahassee.com/article/20100602/BREAKINGNEWS/100602006/Crist--Expect-oil-to-reach-Florida-within-48-hours There are still a handful of folks around here that are still buying BP gas out of convenience, or possibly bec...
