Bottoms Road 5/8
A little windy but the water is starting to look much better. You can see grass patches in 4ft for at least 100 yards. Caught plenty of fish all on the shore line, out of the wind, with gold spoons. http://www.forumpictureprocessor.com/pictureprocessor/images/IMG_2009_2.jpg http://www.forumpicturepr...

St. Marks 5/1
Started out slow. I only caught two Lady Fish for starters. The tide slacked and then started moving again after that I found a few trout. Total of three in all. These two both went about 23". Soft plastics were the ticket. Water was the same color but a little bit clearer. Beats work. http://w...

Just the Fish
Caught today on soft plastics. Lost a few and had two small pups. No trout. The last fish had that 1/2oz lure deeper in it's mouth that may bait. Good to know he was still eating. All fish released to fight another day. http://www.forumpictureprocessor.com/pictureprocessor/images/IMG_1996.jpg http:/...

Rod Balance
One of my favorite combos for Trout and Reds for that matter is a Med weight, fast action 7' Shimano Calrus rod matched with a Shimano Saros 2500, filled with 10 braid. I was fishing the other day and I noticed the balance point on this combo was slightly off of the reel point. I'll get to the quest...

Re: Drop Shot Rig?
I use it all the time. Especially once I find a school of fish. I've had great success with that rig in as little as two feet of water. The bait stays in one place rather than constantly moving forward and that gives the fish a little different look and sometimes that’s all it takes. Keep in mind th...

Re: Bottoms road ramp ...?
At high tide I have to back in pretty far to get the boat off. But there's good fishing not too far from there.

Re: Shark Fishing St. Marks?
I found that you can catch them just about any where. Once the water warms up and the Ladyfish arrive I like to free line one out behind the boat while I continue to fish. I have them get hit in as little as five minutes and I've had to wait an hour, but they do seem to show up. I caught this Bull a...

Re: BEST CAROLINA SKIFF FOR THE FLATS!!!!!!!!!
I have a 16' DXL with a 2 stroke 40 hp, front and rear casting decks. It fishes two just fine but three is a crowd. Cruising speed with two people and gear is about 26 mph at 4 to 4,500 RPM (when the water is right). I think... if I had to do it again I would get something with a V hull. The Carolin...

Trolling Motor Housing
The top housing on my MotorGuide is falling apart. I heard some rattling and decided to investigate. I discovered all but one or two of the plastic sleeves that the screws go into are coming apart. Any thoughts??? Also I've been having blow outs with the rubber bushings that go under the mount (the ...

St. Marks
Hit the flats to the east of the Lighthouse today and caught about a dozen trout, a few dinks and several slots sized fished. Fished in water 2 to 4 ft and used soft plastics. I wouldn't say their on the flats as of now but surely it won't be long before they are. We'd catch one or two here and then...
