Cheap Flies

Not sure if anyone is interested, but I stopped by that new Sportsman's Warehouse on my way to the Wacissa Saturday, and they sell flies for $0.99 - if you by a dozen or more they're $0.89 each. I will admit, it's not the widest selection, and they're not the best flies I've ever seen, but for a dol...

Wacissa River - 07.26.08

Decided to keep it simple this weekend, so I headed down to the Wacissa with my kayak, ultra light and a 4 wt. Started off by catching my official "smallest fish ever" on fly... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v249/bgandy/P7260121.jpg Caught these on the same white popper as the above mo...

Re: Dogs finding Redfish

Wow Suber. Your story was so elaborate that it was almost believable. Seems like you could somehow train a dog to find fish though - maybe not a particular species, but fish in general. If they can find birds, then why not?

Re: Did some tarpon fishing Sat. and Sun.

Sounds like you had the same luck most people did last week. I heard a lot of lock jaw reports too. Although, I did have a friend jump one and boat one at Lanark on Sunday, using a live pinfish.

Re: Another fly fishing question-saltwater

Ditto on 60 ft - from the bow of a boat, with a little wind and an average sized fly - which is a little different than standing in the backyard with a piece of yarn tied to the end of the leader.

Re: June 1 - St. Marks

It was a good trip, however he fails to mention that I fought that stupid shark for about 20 minutes simply because I spotted the cobia following it and wanted to give someone on the boat a chance to catch it. It was a monster nurse shark that looked to be about 10 ft long. Apparently the world reco...

Awesome catch TT! It's nice to see these kind of reports from our area. Hopefully this kind of thing will become as common around here as it is in the Indian Lagoon or Louisianna.

SGI - Memorial Day

Got a chance to wade the bayside for a few hours before heading home on Monday. Conditions were near perfect. Light winds, clear skies, slightly stained water, and a fairly low tide. The only condition not perfect was the lack of fish. There were probably more mullet swimming around than I've ever s...
