Re: Tarpon
I think I saw a tarpon today at Lanark or rather a tarpon saw me. While I was fishing I heard 3-4 times what I thought was a dolphin surfacing somewhere around me. I kept looking around but didn't see anything. Then I heard it again right behind me but when I turned around the fish had already ...

Re: Tarpon
About how close to the shore are the tarpon at Lanark? I'm taking the yak out there tomorrow and I figured I'd throw out a pin fish and see if one can find my rig.

Looking for a good home for a registered GSP (free)
My girlfriend has a 1 - 1/2 yr old German Shorthaired Pointer that she got as a puppy and we may have to give her away. She lives in an apt now and is going to be moving soon for work and will be living in another apt. These dogs need plenty of outside time and aren't very good apt dogs. Even though ...

Re: in need of advice for shell point
If you are going out from shell point beach go west until you come across a sandy grass flats area. Probably the flats talked about above. If you keep going west you will start to come across a bunch of oyster bars scrattered around everywhere. Best piece of advice is to get on google maps and try ...

Re: Kayak Sight Fishing
I think you would have to stack the odds in your favor if you want to sight fish from a Yak and catch fish consistently. Find sand bottom and turtle grass. Get your sidearm or underhand cast down to a science because when you see them while standing in a Yak they will be close. Fish the Shoal and ...

Re: Kayak Sight Fishing
Tkmcknig,
What type of kayak do you have? Are you comfortable standing in it?
What would be the best lure(s) to use if I come across reds pushing during the negative tide on the flats? Unweighted jerk bait? Maybe a 3 in gulp shrimp, although I'm a little worried about making a quiet entry with ...

Re: Kayak Sight Fishing
So last saturday was not what I expected it to be haha. Arrived at wb at about 745 and the tide was super low, as expected. After walking our kayaks for a bit to get into the west goose neck we found schools of bait everywhere. It looked as though it was going to be a great day. Even more so when i ...

Re: Kayak Sight Fishing
Thanks for the advice! Google maps is definitely a very useful tool, I've been using that for a while now. I'm heading out to wakulla beach on saturday so hopefully the reds will be hungry for whatever I throw at them! haha.

Kayak Sight Fishing
I've been kayak fishing a ton since I purchased my yak last Feb and to this day I have only been able to sight fish for reds two or three times. Obviously, to find them you must be in the right place at the right time. I've been to those places and still haven't been able to do much sight fishing ...

Re: Water temperature
I know this isn't a spot on water temp but looking at this map it looks like it is around 60. Take into account the power plant on the saint marks and that prob increases the temp by a few degrees. When I went out last sunday the water in front of the power plant felt like bath water, which I assume ...
Re: Mandalay
Very nice man!!!!! I haven't gone fishing in a couple months and my roommate and I are thinking about going on sunday. Last winter we didn't catch too much and we'd like to change that this winter lol. I'm def getting the itch to get back on the yak!! Do you mind if I ask where you put in at? Are ...
