Re: Inshore Rod & Reel suggestions
I posted a very similar question on this board not long after I bought (& eventually returned) a Penn Battle 4000. I don't recommend this reel at all.
I eventually went with Stradic Ci4 4000 for my inshore red/trout fishing. Used it for the first time last weekend and absolutely love it. It's ...

Re: Cedar Key, FL
Even though I didn't get hooked up on anything to get over-excited about, I just figured I'd follow this up with an actual report of how it went.
My buddies and I got up a little later than anticipated on Sat. (Brian over at Big Deck's sure was heavy handed when he made those drinks Fri night :lick ...

Re: Cedar Key, FL
Thanks for the feedback guys! Will be bringing the yak for sure & breaking in a brand new Ci4 as well.
I think I've decided to try the Atsena Otie Key area, as the shell mound is a bit far from where we're staying.
That's a lot of good advice Jim, I appreciate it. I'm sure I'll be at the dock at ...

Re: Cedar Key, FL
Thanks Salty! Where exactly is the shell mound area, if you dont mind me asking?
Also, I've heard of a large oyster bar that's not too bad to paddle to down there but I'm not sure where exactly that is either...

Cedar Key, FL
Anyone ever fished here? I have to go to Cedar Key this weekend for a buddy's birthday & was debating bringing the kayak.
I've looked at some aerials & it appears to have some pretty prime trout/redfish fishing areas. I've looked around the web for more info on this area but can't seem to find ...

Re: Shimano Stradic - Which One? (& Penn Battle Review)
Thanks for all of the overwhelming help guys! After all of the replies, I am now leaning toward the Ci4, but am completely undecided between the 3000 or 4000 model. Hopefully I can make my mind up soon & be back in the water when all this rain clears out.
Thanks again guys!

Re: Shimano Stradic - Which One? (& Penn Battle Review)
I had all but assumed the 4000 was the way to go, but it sounds like most of you have 3000 or less. Any real big difference?

Shimano Stradic - Which One? (& Penn Battle Review)
So, over Easter weekend I bought a Penn Battle 4000 & had the guy at Bass Pro spool on some 15 lb PowerPro braid. Took it out to Mexico Beach this past weekend to test her out &, needless to say, it was wind knot city. I didn't read the reviews on this model until after I bought it (smart move ...
