Hey Litt,
Been around, but obviously not fishing! Going in Wednesday to see about some physical therapy for my back, and then one day at a time...

Re: WAVEWALK kayak

Hey fl-cajun, Welcome to the site. I have seen one on display, but never used one. They have been around for at least 8 years now, but good luck in finding a dealer. Based on what folks say who have tested one, they are quite heavy and fairly expensive. Here are some actual first hand reports. My su...

Hey Bryan, We have a kayak angler's club in the Big Bend area, the Forgotten Coast Kayak Anglers (FCKA). We have a forum specifically for folks who are interested in getting together with others for fishing, as well as monthly tournaments to introduce folks to new areas. Check it out here: http://ww...

I have two of the Hobie Mirage Drive boats with stock seats. I have gone for six hours straight of continuous fishing without standing, stopping, or getting out. But, be careful to bend over and stand SLOWLY when you finally do stop and get out, otherwise you might find yourself toppling over into t...

Several of us at FCKA have Hobie Mirage Drive (pedal) boats. You can paddle, pedal, or sail these babies. Love that hands-free trolling, rigging, and landing fish. Here are a couple of links to some of my rigging mods for fishing (or whatever!). http://www.fcka.net/cat001/modules.php?name=Forums&...

Hey BT,
Nope--not yours--it was JSuber! Sorry to hear you had to go the surgical route. but that seems to be what the docs know best (and costs the most)!

Glad you put the brakes on the nurse--I can see the expression on her face--and I wasn 't even there!

Hey Ed, Saw your earlier post about retiring--welcome to no schedule, no early drives to work, and no money! Would love to join you on one of your fishing excursions--besides I would like to see the new boat. Maybe I can loan you one of my yaks for an excursion to the "dark side" as well. ...

Embedded Hook Removal From One's Bod

A recent mishap with a ladyfish hooking one of our members in a finger after he first hooked the ladyfish reminded me of a recent article in GAFF Magazine (May-June, 2007) by one of our former Florida State University pre-med students, Paul Hart, MD. Although nearly all such hookings of humans are s...

Hey Nathan, Yeah--I agree--the SOSpenders aren't bad, but I have gone with a Stearns chest pack inflatable from KFS. I especially like the large cental pocket for my camera and the two side pockets where I carry my emergency stuff like a whistle and a spare rigging knife. http://i16.photobucket.com/...

You can get good PFDs most anywhere these days that boats or boating supplies are sold. Some are more comfortable than others, depending on your size and weight, however. For starters, try West Marine and Boater's World in Tally, For info on ones that a lot of kayakers use, try Rob at T-n-T on the W...

Hey SD, What some of us use is one of the Sam's Club insulated bags--small one was about $7.59 last time I checked. Very well made and insulated. They also now have a larger version. Found in the frozen food department of Sams--if you are not a member, perhaps you can get a friend who is, to pick up...

Hey reel, Several good trailers out there for yaks. Here is a link to one of my reviews of these. I have been using it for some time now and it works well. http://kfs.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/948607442/m/1461030751?r=1461030751#1461030751 http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b19/apalach/CockDownTw...

Jeff, I completely agree about the value of a PFD while yak fishing. What I want to know is where do you get the PFD that you wear on your yak and in your fishing pics, and who makes them? They look really light weight--just like my fishing shirt--I want one just like it--the PFD, that is! :-D http:...
