A couple we met on the ship did the cave tubing trip and loved it. I want to try it next time, if I'm not too old by then.

Have fun in Belize, but be careful. It is pretty rough outside of the port perimeter. The cruise port is surrounded by a huge iron fence with spikes on top and patolled by armed security guards. And since there is no pier, you have to take a 20 minute ferry from the ship to shore.

Well, the fishing was a bit disappointing. The "guides" were nice, kept the hooks baited and gave out plenty of drinks and fruit, but they didn't really seem very concerned about catching fish. It was too much trouble for them if anybody actually caught anything. I caught a nice horse-eye jack ...

If she's willing to let me go fishing DURING the honeymoon, she must be OK. I just hope she doesn't have TOO much fun and insists on going on every fishing trip from now on. I've been able to keep her happy with a trip to the lake every now and then, but if she ever figures out how much fun flats ...

The fishing trip is one of those excursion deals offered by the cruise line. I don't have very high hopes, but some fishing is better than no fishing, even on a honeymoon. Hopefully I can get the missus hooked on bottom fishing so I can get a bigger boat.

Anyone ever fished in Belize?

I'm fishing the barrier reef in Belize next week. Anyone ever been there? It will be a short trip, since it is during my honeymoon. I would like to have an idea of what to expect. BTW, the new bride will be fishing also. :smt007

Spanish Fly
Walkers Cay

One More Cast w Shaw Grigsby has been doing a lot of saltwater stuff lately. Roland Martin's newest show is pretty good too.

Offshore Adventures is OK, but I usually want to slap them by the end of the show for being so lucky.

Tarpon at Keaton?

I forgot to mention the 4 foot tarpon that inhaled my buddy's jerkbait Saturday morning and went absolutely crazy, jumping out of the water 3 times before it shook the hooks. Are tarpon very common around Keaton? I don't remember anyone mentioning one in a post.

Keaton Beach 5/27-5/28

Headed out of the Marina about 2:00 on Friday with 2 buddies, past the #2 marker and hung a left. Water temp was 79, slight chop, sunny. We fished hard until about 8:30 and boated 8 trout (including a limit for me :-D) and 3 spanish. We also caught about 50 shorts and a butt-load of sea bass. Most ...

My neighbor in Ochlocknee Bay went offshore Friday and brought back abot 500 lbs of meat. I didn't talk to him, but I talked to the fellow that cleaned the fish. It was 3 big coolers of cleaned fish. That was a good day.

I just wish we had brought some shrimp with us. I think we probably would have had a little better luck with the keepers, but it was still a good day.
The ray that broke the rod was actually snagged on one of its "wings". That was bad luck all the way around.

St.Marks 4/30

Me and two buddies put in at the Lighthouse @7:00 am despite the weather. Went east from the Lighthouse and fished all day until the rain came in at 4:00 pm. We ended up with 38 trout, but only ONE keeper. Also a bluefish and a HUGE stingray that snapped a rod before we could cut the line. We caught ...

I'm going to Blackshear tomorrow with my son. It has cleared up some. The water level is back down close to normal. Spring Creek was very muddy earlier this week. Cedar Creek looked OK, as did the Smokehouse area. The area down around Powerline Slough and Alligator Slough usually clears up pretty ...

A little common sense and preparation go a loooong way to keeping you safe. Check the weather BEFORE you go out and make sure your VHF radio and GPS are in good working order, along with any other safety equipment. And if you can, ask somebody with more know-how and experience for some advice. Pride ...
