Tom Keels can tell you how far out to get 50' visibility, but I don't think you ever get crystal clear in the Gulf like you do in the Bahamas!

Color ?
visibility?
turbidity?!

3 miles off PCB will get you into the start (mostly peanuts).

3+ miles into Atlantic will get you bigger quicker.

Anything can be used for live bait. As long as it is not a regulated species. If it is, it has to meet the regs. So, you could use a 15" black bass for bait but not a 4".

Well, almost anything. I don't think a birddog on a hook for shark fishing is legal! :D
